Hunt for souvenirs and gifts at various markets in Lanzarote
Teguise is a beautiful, sleepy village six days of the week. On Sundays it goes crazy by hosting Lanzarote’s biggest and busiest open-air market.
The cobbled streets are thronged with people who flock there from across Lanzarote to browse among hundreds of market stalls that sell more or less everything you can think of. Local folk music groups add to the hubbub and, of course, haggling is obligatory.
It is one of several markets where you can hunt for souvenirs and gifts. Stylish Marina Rubicon near Playa Blanca has arts and craft souvenirs, jewellery, toys and clothes on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.
Saturday mornings also see a busy market in Arrecife's old quarter of El Charco and a smaller market in the tree-lined main square of Haria. There is a small, traditional market in Uga on Saturday and Sunday mornings and an artisan market in Mancha Blanca on Sunday mornings sells local arts and crafts and organic produce.
