ATOL Protection
Olympic Holidays has been serving UK holidaymakers for over 60 years and is fully ATOL protected and is a member of ABTA so anyone booking with us is fully protected. ATOL protects you from losing money or being stranded abroad if the tour operator goes out of business. If a company with an ATOL goes out of business, the CAA will refund the people who have not traveled and arrange for people on holiday to fly home. We've created this factsheet to help you get a better understanding of ATOL protection together with the benefits of booking with an ATOL holding and ABTA member travel company such as Olympic Holidays.
Air Travel Organisers' Licence (ATOL), which is managed and overseen by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)
Yes, our ATOL number is 4108. Olympic Holidays is an ATOL holder and therefore your flight inclusive arrangement is fully protected.
No, ATOL is only applicable to holidays and flights where the company providing your travel arrangements holds an ATOL. Some holidays, where the flight and accommodation are arranged or sold separately ("dynamically packaged") may not be ATOL protected. Similarly where flights are booked direct with an airline they will not be ATOL protected if the airline should cease trading.
Some of the flights and flight-inclusive holidays on this website are financially protected by the ATOL scheme. But ATOL protection does not apply to all holiday and travel services listed on this website. This website will provide you with information on the protection that applies in the case of each holiday and travel service offered before you make your booking. If you do not receive an ATOL Certificate then the booking will not be ATOL protected. If you do receive an ATOL Certificate but all the parts of your trip are not listed on it, those parts will not be ATOL protected. Please see our booking conditions for information, or for more information about financial protection and the ATOL Certificate go to: www.caa.co.uk
Yes, you can check if the company holds an ATOL by searching here.
Yes. When you make a booking the tour operator or travel agent should provide you with confirmation and an ATOL certificate that gives the name and ATOL number of the licensed operator you are booked with and specifies exactly what services in your booking are ATOL protected.
If your travel agent is an ABTA travel agent or belongs to one of the associations (for example the Travel Trust Association) and the travel agent goes out of business, your money will be safe and the tour operator your holiday has been booked with will continue to provide your holiday.
You will be protected by ATOL so you will get your money back if this happens before you travel and if you're on holiday you can complete your holiday and the CAA will ensure your flight home.
You are protected as long as the company you are booking with has an ATOL. The "ATOL Protected" logo together with the company's ATOL number should be displayed on the website.
Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA)
No they don't. ATOL is a legal requirement that companies like tour operators must comply with to sell package holidays where a flight is part of the package. ABTA is a travel trade association that requires members to hold an ATOL if a flight is part of the package holiday and takes other steps to ensure that your money is safe. For instance tour operator members of ABTA can take out a bond with ABTA (as Olympic Holidays does) to ensure financial protection of holiday arrangements that do not include a flight and it has other protections in place to protect your money if booking through a travel agent member of ABTA.
