A sea safari provides an exciting chance to see whales and dolphins in their natural environment – breathtaking.

Things to do in La Palma

The Canary Islands have become the most important area in Europe for dolphin and whale spotting. The Atlantic Ocean surrounding La Palma is home to a wonderful variety of marine life, including dolphins, finback whales, pilot whales and sperm whales.

Several boat and catamaran tours operate across the island, mainly from the west coast port of Tazacorte. The sea safaris are led by experienced guides who set out to showcase the beauty of La Palma’s marine life.  Tours last between two and four hours.

There are several types of excursion vessels, including a large inflatable, a glass-bottomed boat, catamaran and sailboat as well as more conventional excursion boats.

It’s an all-year round activity too. The expert crews know the best places to see dolphins jump joyfully alongside your boat and the majestic sight of pilot whales coming up for air. But if you don’t get lucky at least one excursion business offers customers a free second trip.
