Award-winning WaterWorld in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, is one of the biggest water parks in Europe, and has had more than four million visitors. Find out why.

Plunge into the legendary myths of Greece at the WaterWorld theme aqua park in Ayia Napa. It’s the largest waterpark in Cyprus, one of the biggest in Europe and creatively themed on the legends of Ancient Greece.

The facilities and exciting, colourful setting have won numerous international awards. It was even judged to be one of the top 12 water parks in the world. There are 25 rides said to suit all ages and all levels of adrenaline. Here are a few of them.

Not faint-hearted? Try the Fall of Icarus, the world’s first “boomerang” slide that sends a two-person bullet plunging towards the ground before shooting up towards the sun. Or Thunderbolt and Lightning, the so-called kamikaze vertical drop from 60ft up.

Children can play with the geezers and guns in Danaides Waterworks or explore the big wet bubble of a play pool in the Minotaur’s Labyrinth.

For families, there’s a huge Poseidon wave pool, the lazy River Odyssey where people drift along on rubber rings and Apollo’s Plunge, a raft slide into a pool for up to three riders at a time. And up to four people at a time can race down the Chariot Chase.

There are many more flumes and rides, plus at least eight food outlets and an interactive playground for youngsters. More than four million visitors have been to the park since it opened in 1996 and the organisers say they spend half a million euros a year on refurbishments and improvements to ensure WaterWorld remains the top tourist attraction in Cyprus.
