Chora is a culturally rich town built on a small peninsula between the two long sandy beaches of Neiborio and Paraporti. The neoclassical buildings combined with the narrow stone alleys make Chora a lovely place to stroll through and gain a true understanding of modern and ancient Greek culture.
The variety of architecture is due to the many occupants Andros has had over the years. Venetian, Byzantine, and Ottoman buildings can be found in the town, and the old gateway to the city has been preserved, taking you back in time to a different world.
Chora has two squares: the first is stone-paved and surrounded by many cafes, restaurants, and shops, while the second is paved with marble and circulates the statue of The Unknown Sailor. It has magnificent views of the town and the crystal clear sea. Due to this square being at the very tip of the peninsula, you can see the stunning Venetian-style stone bridge connecting Andros Town to a little islet. On this islet are the remains of a castle built by the Venetian period to protect the city.
