Athens - 3 nights
Your adventure begins in Athens where thousands of years of history is seamlessly mixed with the fun and comfort of the 21st century. Capital cities can be big and boring – but not Athens and its Saronic Gulf riviera. It’s exuberant Greece, full of life, crammed with things to do and with an amazing twist of ancient history.
Your first sight of the towering Acropolis will take your breath away. It’s topped by the 2,500-year-old marble Parthenon and together they dominate the city, especially when lit at night. Historic ruins are everywhere, mixed in with the cafes, bars, shops, markets, squares, clubs, museums and galleries.
Poros - 3 nights
After soaking up so many things to do, head to Poros where the Greek flag will be welcoming you to Galtos harbour. The bell tower of a lovely white church will catch your eye on a picturesque hillside of cypress trees and red-roofed houses. The harbour is lined with friendly tavernas and bars and the town charming. American writer Henry Miller said Poros was “a joy too deep almost to be remembered”. So share the joy and explore this lush green island that is packed with beautiful bays and lovely beaches and covered in pine trees, olive trees and lemon groves.
Spetses - 3 nights
Then hop off to Spetses where yachts fill Dapia’s palm-tree fringed harbour and the tavernas and bays stay open late on an otherwise tranquil island. Horse-drawn white carriages wait to taxi visitors to their hotels in a town where private cars are banned. Water taxis and buses take visitors to the eight lovely beaches, most are quiet and relaxing. Mopeds, quad bikes and cycles can be hired to help you explore this exquisite island before you head back to Athens - and home.
