Stoupa is one of the best beach bases in the Mani Peninsula — relaxed, scenic, and easy without feeling overdeveloped. It’s especially popular for couples, families, and people doing a Peloponnese Road trip.

There are actually two main beaches right in town:

Kalogria Beach

The famous one.

  • Soft golden sand
  • Clear turquoise shallow water
  • Great swimming conditions
  • Organized with sunbeds, cafes, and tavernas
  • Very good sunset views

This is the prettier and more photogenic beach of the two. In peak July–August it gets busy, but mornings and evenings are excellent.

Interesting detail:
Writer Nikos Kazantzakis lived nearby while working with George Zorbas, which inspired Zorba the Greek.

Stoupa Beach

Right next to the village center.

  • Wider and larger
  • Also sandy
  • Calmer vibe
  • Easier for families with kids
  • Good tavernas directly on the waterfront

Usually, a bit less beautiful than Kalogria, but more practical.

Voidokilia Beach is one of the most iconic beaches in the Peloponnese — and often ranked among the most beautiful in Greece.

It sits in a protected natural area near the Gialova Lagoon, close to the town of Pylos.

  • Near-perfect omega (Ω) shaped bay
  • Soft golden sand (no pebbles)
  • Shallow, calm turquoise water
  • Surrounded by dunes and low hills
  • Completely natural — no buildings on the beach itself

It’s the kind of place that looks almost unreal in photos, but it’s genuinely like that in person.

Chrani Beach (in the Peloponnese, region of Messinia) is a quiet seaside village known for its long, relaxed coastline rather than one single “famous beach.” It’s a good base if you want calm water, fewer crowds, and easy access to several nearby beaches.

This is the village’s main stretch of coast with a Mix of sand and fine pebbles

  •     Clear, calm sea most days
  •     Sections with sunbeds + free natural areas
  •     Quiet compared to resorts like Tolo
  •     Small tavernas and cafés along parts of the beach
  •     Very “slow holiday” vibe
  •     Swimming + relaxing all day
  •     Couples and families
  •     Low-key beach days without crowds

Foneas Beach is one of the most striking beaches in the Peloponnese, especially if you like wild scenery rather than organized resorts.

It’s located in the Mani Peninsula between Kardamyli and Stoupa.

  • Small cove with white and grey pebbles
  • Bright turquoise, very clear water
  • Steep cliffs and green vegetation around the bay
  • A large rock in the middle of the beach (its signature feature)
  • No sand feeling “soft”—this is a stone beach

It feels more like a natural swimming amphitheatre than a typical beach.
