Relax away from the crowds on holidays to Miliou. If you’re looking for something different from your average Mediterranean beach resort, then Miliou Village could be the answer to your dreams.

Description

Miliou is a tiny quaint village with a population of just 60 people, so you may find yourself on first name terms with some of the locals as you mingle with them at the simple local coffee shop, in one of the smallest villages in Cyprus.  There’s no beach in Miliou, but don’t let that put you off as Latchi is only a 15 minutes drive away where sandy beaches, snorkelling, watersports and tavernas are waiting. There’s more to discover too at nearby Polis and lovely Paphos is only a 35 minutes’ drive away, in which you can stroll along the harbour, be tempted by some souvenir shops and visit the town’s numerous sights and attractions.

Miliou is rich in green vegetation due to the constant supply of spring water and is ideal for a quiet and relaxing holiday. The area has the perfect conditions for growing citrus fruits, almonds and grapes, and during springtime the village and surrounding areas are a spectacular sight with scented trees laden with oranges and lemons. The grapes in particular are a good reason to go here, they produce some wonderful wines – so make sure you sample a cheeky glass or two during holidays in Miliou Village.

The village is renowned for its stunning mountain and valley views, perfect for long leisurely walks where you can admire the beautiful landscape. Stride out on the hiking trails, discover the Troodos Mountains - just four kilometres away and look out for pretty nesting nightingales that have made their home in Miliou.

Miliou is one of the villages involved in the Laona Project, a non profit making organisation responsible for ecotourism and rural regeneration. The picture postcard limestone houses are an excellent example of traditional village architecture, thanks to the Laona project many more have been restored.

Holidays in Miliou Village are ideal for a quiet and relaxing holiday. Enjoying the nature and bird watching are popular activities and reasons to come here and the village is renowned for being a nesting site for nightingales.
