RHODES OLD TOWN

Known as the ‘City of the Knights’ or the Medievel City of Rhodes, the OldTown overlooks the Harbour of the Emporium. Located on theNorth Eastern Tip of the Island, it is said to be one of the most well preserved Medieval Towns in Europe. The town itself is a maze of narrow,winding streets, medieval buildings, and historic landmarks. As you walkthrough the cobblestone streets, you'll encounter various architecturalstyles, including Gothic, Ottoman, and Italian Renaissance influences,reflecting the diverse history of the island. In the Turkish Quarter,wandering along the streets, you almost feel as if you have beentransported back to the east. On the medieval houses they built woodenbalconies with window grills which even today recall the ear of the Harem

LINDOS ACROPOLIS

Rising 400 feet above the white-washed village of Lindos, the Acropolishosts great vantage points of the village and out across the MediterraneanSea. One of the most visited attractions on the island, it’s one of the bestplaces to catch a Greek Sunrise. The Temple of Athena Lindia dates back tothe 4th Century and serves as cultural and religious center for the townwhich was dedicated to the goddess Athena. The Lindos Acropolis alsofeatures other significant structures, including the Hellenistic stoa,the Propylaea (entrance gate), the Byzantine church of St. John, andthe remains of ancient houses.

ANCIENT KAMIROS

The third Ancient City on the island, situated on the west coast, Kamiros isan abandoned town with traces of streets and squares still etched intostone. Although damaged by an earthquake the village was abandoneduntil its re-discovery in 1859 followed by excavations in 1929 by Italians.The layout of Ancient Kamiros was unique, characterized by awell-planned and organized grid system, exploring the site allows visitorsto get a glimpse of the daily life and urban planning of an ancient Greekcity-state.

 

EPTA PIGES (SEVEN SPRINGS)

Getting its name from the many springs in the area just outside ofKolymbia, Epta Piges is a great spot to relax and escape the heat duringthe summer. Even on the hottest days, the springs never dry and you canfind yourself wandering through a tunnel carved into the rock which joinstwo lakes together. Following the many wooden paths and steps you willfind yourself at the last lake with a waterfall flowing behind you.

PETALOUDES (BUTTERFLY VALLEY)

A unique, natural location on the Western side of Rhodes, Butterfly Valleyis renowned for its dense population of Jersey Tiger Moth, a species youwill only find in Rhodes. They become most active during the summermonths, as you wander between the trees and footpaths you will witnessa covering of butterflies, thousands upon thousands.

KALITHEA SPRING

Originating from the 20th Century as a luxury spa and therapeutic center,the Italians developed the Springs for its healing qualities. The beautifularchitecture now stands as a historic and scenic attraction on the coast,just outside of Rhodes Town. Surrounded by lush gardens and stunningsea views, Kalithea Springs are the ideal spot to explore and relax at thesame time while escaping traditional beaches, with access to theturquoise water to cool off after exploring to the courtyards, archwaysand colonnades.

MONOLITHOS CASTLE

Built by the Knights of Saint John during their rule over the island, theCastle is characterized by the impressive stone walls and towers situatedon a natural rock formation. Within the castle walls, visitors canexplore the ruins of the fortress and walk along the pathways thatlead to various sections of the complex. The main tower of thecastle, known as the "Goulas," stands prominently and offers apanoramic view of the surrounding landscape. Monolithos offerssome of the best views to catch the sun go down after a dayexploring.
